How can I transistion to vegetarianism?

I'm a 14 year old girl, and I am a bit chubby, but it's not just for health reasons.

Every time I even think about eating meat..I just feel so sick. I used to love it, but now the only thing I can eat without gagging is chicken. I can't stand the thought of hurting an animal.

I've barely been eating lately because all my parents make is meat..help? Any ideas that aren't totally nuts, because I need stuff that my parents will pay for..because like I said, I'm 14, no job.

  1. Slow. Do not cut out meat 100% all at once, or you will binge.  I just phased it out over a few weeks.  There are plenty of vegetarian resources on the web.  There is a book called Vegan with a Vengence (even though I'm not vegan) that prides itself on being "cheap".  No $20 ingredients.

You may have to do some cooking - most parents are cool with that.

  2. ok so what i di is i slowly cut all the meat out of my diet.

so,seeing as you dont eat red meat,i would suggest to eat a smaller portion of chicken untill you are no-longer having it anymore.

& i swear, you will loose at least alittle weight,if its a problem or a concern to you.

    when i became a vegetarian i lost close to 40lbs, & i was 12 going on 13.

so i think you can do it:)

& i suggest buying one package of several different types of tofu,so you can decide whi you like best.

another thing you could do[kinda pricy =x]

is look around at the organic food store.

your becoming a vegetarian,so that means making yourself more healthy.

hope that helps & best of luck :)

  3. If just stopping immediately seems too drastic of a change for you, you can eliminate other types of meat first, and slowly drift from eating chicken. You can eat so many things without meat in them. It's pretty easy if you have the right foods available to you. Maybe you can talk to your parents about it. When I was 14-15 I started being a vegetarian. At first my mom wasn't so happy with the idea, but eventually she started buying me vegetarian foods such as veggie burgers, tofu, vegetarian burritos.

  4. Fruits, vegetables, tofu, whole grains.

  5. get your parents to buy peanuts; they're a very yummy snack and when boiled with meat season, they're absolutely delicious. i eat salads about every day, and thats something else your parents might buy because lettuce is inexpensive. i also suggest buying tortilla shells and shredded cheddar cheese because a quesedilla can be made in the microwave in about thirty seconds. good luck with your new vegetarian diet by the way :] just remember to drink a lot of water because you'll get full a lot easier and seek support from other vegs you know :]]
