My mom, from what I can tell, is a pathological liar. She constantly lies and convinces herself that what she says is true. One big problem is that she has basically emptied our bank account, she is fully aware, but continues to write checks and convince herself that she has money in the bank! I know we don't because i intercepted the mail and saw the bank statements. She has my dad believing that we do have money and that the checks that she writes for the bills are being covered , but i know the truth. She is my mom and I love her and I don't want her to get in trouble for so many "hot checks". How can i help her? I know that she won't admit that she is lying because to her it's the truth.

  1. There must be an underlying issue going on here, such as compulsive gambling or shopping.  She will be found out soon enough, so you may as well tell your Dad so maybe he can catch it before she gets in too far over her head.  I'm sorry!

  2. i think you should tell your dad and let him handle it

  3. she is running from a reality.she obviously lives in a fairytale, thinking that if she believes enough this will al come true.i dont know, maybe she has a serious condition, that would explane more about her putting her sons live and future in danger. im sure she loves you too,but she needs some serious help.dont wait untill u end up in streets. you just do something.first, u better tell your fater something. and dont feel like u are letting down your mother if u tell on her.its for both of ur sake.just rememba how hard ur dad must work to earn thet money too.

  4. Let your Dad know whats going on and hopefuly he will get her help, this is to big a problem for you to handel.

  5. It is more a psychological problem and can be best treated by counselling. Find out a person who is amenable to your mother. let her ask your mother a temporary loan by way of cheque. after waitng for a few days, let the friend take your mother to the bank along with the cheque and request the bank manager to counsel her that there is no balance in her account ad heis inclined to make the account in operative considering the interes of the bank. let the bank manager  advise her to cross checck with the bank about avilability of funds and thenissue checks.  It is the only way No harsh wordsplease, after all she is yur mother

  6. That is such a hard position for you to be in. Doesn't your Dad check the bank statements too. Could you casually leave one for him to find. Your Mum does need help tho' and I am sure you will support her. Does she have a gambling or compulsive buying problem? If she does, remember it is an illness.
