How can I try out and make the U.S. Olympic Baseball team?

If I would like to tryout for the U.S. olympic baseball team, where would I need to go? Would there be tryouts like all the other events, or what process would they go through to choose their players?

If anyone has any information on it, such as age limits, or tryout locations I would very much appreciate it!

  1. there are not tryouts.  they are recruited.  the key to making it is to be the best in your high school, and then the best in college.  most of the us team players have already been drafted

  2. If you are good enough to try out, they will find you. You will get a letter in the mail telling you when tryouts are. They scout at college games, so you need to play college ball first.

  3. I hate to be the bearer of bad news... but baseball is being eliminated from the olympics as of this year (along with softball).  This is amazing considering walking, badminton, air pistol, and trampoline jumping are still "viable" sports.

  4. The USA baseball team was selected from stars in the minor leagues.

But keep in mind that the International Olympic Committee voted not to have baseball as an Olympic sport in 2012.

EDIT: Here is any article on the Olympics dropping baseball (and softball) from the 2012 Olympics.

  5. if you have the skills, you'll be on

  6. This is the last Olympics that will include Baseball, so unless there is a miracle and Baseball is re-included in 2016, you are out of luck.

  7. Initially, get in touch with the USOC to ask for requirements
