How can I tune in to smaller radio stations?

I've been trying to listen to Joy 94.9 but I can't seem to get it. My radio only seems to be able to pick up this other radio station that's in some foreign language. Does this mean I can't listen to it at all?

  1. Maybe not - on that radio at least. Is this a home/portable radio or the radio in your car? Usually car radio reception is better because there's an antena built in.

It's the radio and antenna that determine what you'll be able to pick up. If the foreign language station is closer to you or has a more powerful signal, it will over-ride your station on a small radio.

A bigger radio, with more tuning "room" might be the answer. Does JOY 94.9 have streaming on their website? You might try that at home.

Without knowing where you live, we can't research JOY to see what power it is - or what the over-riding station might be. It may be that JOY is not located in your city.
