How can I turn my whole house in the Philippines with 220 volts into 110 volts?

Please tell me in detail so I can follow step-by-step, this is very important and need to do asap.

  1. It depends on the size of your home, or your electrical load.

    You will need an electrican to install a 15000 WATT STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER or larger. Some of your electrical devices will run slower , but they will work. Good luck

  2. I don't know about where you live but in the states, most homes have 220volts ran to them. It is basically 2 legs of 110v. We have appliances that run off of 220v and 110v in our homes. 220volt comes off of double pole breakers and 110volt power comes off of a single pole breaker.

    Maybe a little more information on what you are trying to do would help.

    Central air conditioning runs off of 220 volts, yet we plug appliances into 110 volt outlets all in the same house. How is this done? 220 volts is 2 legs of 110 off of a double pole breaker. 110 volts comes from one leg of 110 volt and a neutral. Amazing huh? All in the same house!

  4. This is not possible. Maybe with a 20k conversion transformer weighing about 1 ton. The power distribution from the power plant, to substations, to your transformer, to your house is different than in the usa/canada. First the frequency is 50hz than 60hz in the usa/canada. The voltage is 220vac and in the usa its 115vac. Its just not possible.

If you have a mixture of appliances that some of which require 115-125 V.AC and others require 220-240 V.AC for proper operation, you shouldn't WANT your whole house to be converted into just 110 V.  If the normal electrical supply to homes in the Phillipines is ONLY 220 V.AC, you might be able to use removable stepdown transformers for those appliances which require 115-125 V.

    Try checking with a volt meter for the voltage between ONE leg of a wall outlet plug and the ground (Earth - through piping going underground, for example) and see if there is any voltage potential indicated. I'm not suggesting that you try to "Jerry rig" anything on your own, but I would be curious to see if having to invest in a bunch of step-down transformers is really necessary.
