  1. Trying to open a sinkhole is risky business. As it hasn't opened yet you have no idea of the underground structure. Picking away at it with a shovel or even worse machinery could trigger a catastrophic collapse. I don't think you want to be swallowed up by the earth.

You are better to wait and let mother nature proceed at her own speed. If you insist on poking around I would tie myself to a firmly anchored safety line. (even 10's of meters near it). I would NOT like to see you on a CNN breaking news story.

Respect the earth - her wonders and dangers.

  2. No offense, but you're a moron Allen D. I'm not hoping to get any "Best Answer" with this response, but I'm speaking my mind because I think you're overconfident in your abilities and you're going to end up getting yourself hurt or making an ___ of yourself. You asked this same question yesterday, and I responded to your question saying that exploring an unmapped sinkhole/cave is risky business, and you shouldn't do it unless you or your partner was an experienced spelunker. For some reason, you chose my answer as "best answer", but proceeded to argue with everything that I said, overall stating that you are experienced, but that you just needed to know how to open the sinkhole.

If you really were experienced, you would not be taking stupid risks like tying yourself to a tree with only 50 meters of rope while trying to dig away at a sinkhole beneath your feet. Just because you've poked around in a few caves does not make you experienced, it just makes you dangerous.

You want to know how to open the sinkhole up? Tie yourself to a tree, then go and jump up and down on it alot. No, better yet - drive your car over it several times!! That should open it up! NO......I know! - use dynamite!! That would do the job nicely!!

See you on the Darwin Awards, Allen D.
