How can I use Jcpenny gift card some where alse?

My friend gave me a Jcpenny gift card of 40 dollars. I don't want to shop from there. Is there any way that i can use it some where else or any way that I can buy an American express card.

JC Penney does sale other gift cards, so you could go in store and buy $40 in Olive garden gift cards (other restaurants available as well)
