How can I use Limewire safely?

I recently downloaded Limewire, and I have heard about the dangers of it. How can I find out whether it is legal or not to download a file that I want to download? How can I prevent people from going through my files? and how do I turn off my connection to the Gnutella network when I am not using Limewire?

Look at the size of every file before you download, put official names in higher regard than other.  For example; if you are trying to download "Stronger" by "Kanye West"  from "Graduation" make sure its not a file like stongerkanyegrad.mp3 or K4ny3$+0n&3r.mp3.  Also avoid names like "Graduation Day" as the album name.  

If you have a PC you should invest in spyware and virus protection software.  Macafee & Norton are some of the best.  If you have a Mac you may want to do the same but Macs are far safer than PC and to this point they are"imune" to virusis.  

to disconnect you go to File>Disconnect.  this should keep you of the network when you are not using it so others can not download your files.  

You may also want to empty out you shared folder, incompleate files, Ect. every so often.  If you download something and it does not turn out to be what you wanted GET RID OF IT.  You don't want strange files floating around your hardrive.  

Thaats pretty much it oh I don't mean to asume that you do but never download p**n from limewire or any other site p**n is nasty and it IS ONE OF THE BEST WAYS TO GET A VIRUS.  Try to avoid video all together unless it is something short like a commercial and remember to follow the rules about titles and such.

Tip: for music try to find AAC before WMA and MP3 it is much smaller and better quality audio. For video M4V but WMV is most common and will be hard to avoid. AVI is the worst overall

just point to the limewire icon in the taskbar, right click, then select Exit..... to avoid hacking of files,just move the downloaded files to another folder which was not shared by limewire....(the target folder was commonly shared by limewire to the internet...there is a plaque icon in every download result indicate that the download is copyright protected....remember you need a anti-virus software...for protection agianst viruses....

Musics ok, but downloading movie's and program's are packed with viruses put on by torrent protesters

get an anti virus rarely do .mp3 files contain trojans but look at the size of the file beforee you download it should be between 3mb to 8mb sometimes more if it is like 560kb than its probably just fake other than that i dont kno wat to say oh and dont download .exe files
