I have tried to record with a VCR using a new digital converter box, however, the reception is distorted. Is it still possible to record with the VCR? I have switched between channels 3 and 4 on the converter box to no avail.

  1. Hook your VCR up to the cable box using A/V inputs. From the cable box use a set of RCA cables & connect the "VIDEO OUT" to the "VIDEO IN" on the VCR. Also from the cable box connection, "AUDIO OUT" to VCR "AUDIO IN" connection. Now using your VCR remote, select the proper input. In your case it may just say "INPUT" or "AUX IN". Try hooking the VCR "OUT TO TV" connection, using coax cable to your tv. Try playing a tape first & make sure everything is ok. You'll have to leave the VCR on to watch through this connection, so you should see a picture right away, without recording.

Now try recording a short segment & see how it compares to the previous hook-up.

    Good Luck!
