I have a digital camera now, but it won't play the movies that were recorded with the old camera. Somebody told me to hook my digital camera up to a VCR. But, how will that work if the digital camera won't recognize the non-digital tape?

  1. If you don't have your original camera you have two options.

    1) pay to have your tapes converted

    2) buy a 8mm camcorder and convert them yourself.   You can get one on EBAY very cheaply

  2. You need an analog converter, either internal card or external such as the dazzle. It's very easy to use and come with good software. You would hook your analog VHS camera/VCR to the analog converter, the dazzle and then hook the dazzle to your PC. The dazzle cost around 70.00 , but worth the money if you have a lot of VHS to tapes to convert.
