Question:

How can I voice a complaint about the pattern of traffic lights on the highway I use to commute to work?

The highway is in NJ (rt. 23) and runs through several towns, but the timing is such a mess that the highway easily backs up while lights turn red with no traffic waiting on the side roads. I would like to get some visibility and a response from my local/county/state government.

  1. Contact NJDOT.  Stand next to one of these stoplights wearing a sandwich board with your complaint written on it.

  2. call or email your local DOT office. www.state.nj.us/transportation/
