How can I volunteer to be a youth mentor?

I'd really like to volunteer as a youth mentor sort of like the Big Brothers & Sisters program in the US but I haven't found anything similar in the UK.

Is there anything similar that doesn't require training? I don't want to do it as a career, I'd just like to be able to volunteer and be there for a child/teenager.
