Question:

How can I wash baby powder (talc) out of clothes?

I use baby powder a LOT throughout the year. It really helps make me feel cool and comfortable, especially in hot weather when I get sweaty. I used to put it around my waist also but now only use it mainly under my arms. I don't use in on my waist any more because it's nearly impossible to wash out of my clothes!

I've actually washed my cut-offs 3 or 4 times, turning them inside out or visa versa each time with the talc STILL remaining in the cloth! I have no idea how to deal with this problem. Does any one know of a particular soap that might do the job better? I've used a few different laundry products in the washing machine and I get the same results....talc in the fabric(s).

I'd greatly appreciate your answers.

  1. The only thing I can suggest is before you wash your clothes try using 1 cup of white vinegar  in two cups of warm water then rub the areas encrusted with talcum powder with a sponge dipped in the vin./water solution. Then wash your clothes in the usual way.

    I hope this helps.
