Question:

How can I wash my orange chucks that are signed ?

Alright, so, I have orange high-top chucks.

And they're signed in sharpie by Cobra Starship, on the canvas part.

But they're kind of getting dirty, and I want to wash them, but I also don't want to make the sharpie part fade. =(

Can anybody tell me how ?

  1. I would try clear nail polish on an edge of the writing.  If it doesn't run, then give the writing two or three thick coats of clear nail polish.  Then, do the same on the underside of the writing, on the inside of the shoe.  Make sure you extend the clear polish at least one inch beyond the signature on all sides.

This should soak through and make a permanent bond in the fabric, forever suspending the signature in clear nail polish.

Let dry for at least 24 hours before washing by hand.  Then, after cleaning, rinse very well, and place outside on the grass.  Somehow, placing something on the grass in the sun really makes it look cleaner.

Renew the clear nail polish before each washing.

  2. Get new ones and get them signed.

  3. I'd soak a wash cloth with  a dab woolite or a similar product and a lot of water, then hand scrub it, washing around the sharpie. washing the whole shoe will probably make the sharpie run so DON'T SOAK THE WHOLE SHOE IN WATER. if you have a bunch of small stains, you could also use a spot cleaner on each stain, but this takes longer.

FYI you can make them dry a little faster with a hair dryer.
