How can I watch footy on American TV?

Back in the early days of cable (early 1980s), before ESPN became a sports programming juggernaut, it carried the Australian Rules Football match-of-the-week program produced by Sport 7. Now that ESPN carries pro and college basketball, pro and college American football, and major league baseball, footy is nowhere to be found. Is there any television network available in the US that carries footy?

  1. You probably need a dish that provides programs from Australia. I believe there is also a social league of footy which has formed in the USA, made up of many ex Aussies. Maybe they can give you details to a bar that shows footy., or more info on channels. The link is listed below.

  2. http://www.afana.com/drupal/tvsched

Seems to have all the info you need.

  3. I haven't seen any American cable or satellite networks that carry Australian Rules Football in years myself, but my Thai wife has a satellite receiver that she receives her Thai television stations on, and it picks up 4 Australian networks via the SatCom 5 transponder. You might want to look into a satellite dish.

  4. afl.com

  5. Fox Sports, Network 7 &10

In every round, games 1 and 7 are Seven Network games; games 2 and 4 are Network Ten games and games 3, 5, 6 and 8 are Fox Sports games. This is summarised below.

Game 1: Friday Night – Seven Network

Game 2: Saturday Afternoon – Network Ten

Game 3: Saturday Afternoon – Fox Sports

Game 4: Saturday Night – Network Ten

Game 5: Saturday Night – Fox Sports

Game 6: Early Sunday Afternoon – Fox Sports

Game 7: Sunday Afternoon – Seven Network

Game 8: Twilight Sunday Afternoon – Fox Sports

  6. If you have Directv you can watch it on Setanta...you have to pay xtra for it.  A lot of Irish Pubs have it...it's an Irish channel.

  7. Well to answer this I willhave to go and ask a question of what is footy.  I'll be right back.

  8. The easiest way is to go to www.afl.com.au and you can listen to all the games live by clicking on 'gameday' for each match. You can also register as an International Subscriber & watch streaming video of all the games and get highlights/news. You can even watch some of the matches without subscribing.
