What are some ways to water your plants if you're away for a long time? I work out of town for months at a time. I have lots of plants but don't know anyone well enough to have them regularly come over and water them. Any ideas? I saw these globe watering ball things on tv, has anyone tried them?

  1. do you have any relatives near by

  2. try a rain dance every night

  3. Those do work... My neighbor uses it and they tell me it's convenient, but I wouldn't know personally...

  4. Haha tis is a stupd answer I' about to give but um I saw this commercial of these Aqua Globes that you fill with water and stick them on the dirt then they get fed the right amount of water even to exotic plants! I'm not sure if it's tru but it's my only answer =D

  5. Try this! I  am not sure though HOw many plants U have or how large the plant containers are- But if they are the normal sized ones 6 to 8 inches then gather them if say you have 10 of them in your bathroom, Either put them in the TUB or line them up Buy a  hose long enough say 5 feet- Now fix one end of the  hose to the tap / faucet ( maybe you will have to get some contraption to fix it to the faucet of the tub), Drape the faucet on the top of each container, punch a few holes in the hose so that water will go directly on to the soil in the container-Once having done that, open  the tap just a notch and  check as to the amount of water coming thru the  holes- Depending on the period you will be out , you will just need to adjust the amount of water that will ease on tot he soil- You just need to keep the soil moist, As it will be continuos 24 hours, 7 days a week , it should just  be drop , drop from each hole- Do this a few days before you go , you will know exactly how much you should turn the  main  tap on

I had done this when I left for 8 weeks! , You wont believe it I had my plants literally overgrown and Green ! Yes the  tub  was messy!! I DO NOT FORGET TO KEEP the drainage hole Of the tub FREE Buy a mesh so it does not clog up in anyway

  6. you can put them on a timer. or sprinklers.

  7. time to be rid of some plants....

gathering them all together in one spot is great, if the light is right for them...otherwise in 'months at a time' they'll be dead from lack of light anyway.....

the best I can suggest is a timed drip system.... but there again, if the power goes off.......it's all over....

  8. I have seen those watering deals on TV also. I would ask at places that sell plants. Also, your county extension office has this kind of information.

  9. try the thing.....i watched it in tv that it doesn't underwater or overwater your plants...i just cant remember the name....it's shaped like a tube with a big balloon thingyon the top....it's good....

  10. you could get those aqua globe things

  11. ask a neighbor to do it

  12. buy a sprinkler system and set the times you would like the sprinklers to go on and off. Try osh.

  13. yeah i was gonna say to try the globe watering things or have a neighbor or family member yo trust do it.

  14. The globe things do work but why spend $$$ if you do not have to.   Any plastic bottles will work, all you have to do is first water the plant throughly then fill the bottles with water and invert the bottle, sticking the neck down into the soil.  I have a couple of large potted palms inside and I use 2 liter pop bottles to water them when I am away for extended periords.  The principle is the same as the globes and not only will you save money you will be recycling a nonbiodegradeable item.

  15. Im assuming outdoor plants. I would say an automatic sprinkler if your neighbors are not friendly enough to do if for you when you are away.
