At home she would not fall asleep without breastfeeding but when in daycare she naps and is fine without me. She also wakes up in the middle of the night, comes to my room and wants to breastfeed. I want to wean her but dont know how. Please help! She eats everything just fine and even likes regular milk.

  1. There's a couple of ways you could do this. One way is to just plain stop nursing all together. The second is to pump your milk and give it to her in a cup. After a while (maybe a couple weeks) she should be fine with it and you might even be able to stop pumping.

But truthfully I would just stop cold turkey. No more nursing and no more breast milk. There's no reason why she can't just be happy with cows milk. I think the whole reason for her still wanting to nurse is that it's a comfort to her. I would find something else that she latches onto for comfort. Like a favorite teddy bear or blanket. Or you could just hold her while she drinks from her cup.

Good Luck Hope it works out!

  2. I think you should have stopped breastfeeding her when she was around 1 or less but you should try to deny her need of breast milk and give her normal milk  when she asks so she would not continue this habit.

  3. I would start with the middle of the night one first.  Tell her before she goes to bed tonight that she can breastfeed before bed but there will be NO MORE in the nighttime if she comes to your room.  It will probably take 3 days of walking her back to her bed and tears (so maybe you should wait until Friday :o) but she'll get the picture.

After that has settled in, move on to the bedtime feeding.  Offer her a sippy cup and read her a story, but explain to her that there will be no more BF because she is getting bigger and needs to drink from a cup.  Honestly I wouldn't say "it is for babies" or anything like that.  Just be factual that it is time to stop and that is that.

Of course give her hugs and kisses and reassurance that you are still there for her in all of the other wonderful mommy ways!

    Good luck!

  4. at night try a bottle of breast milk so she is getting that confort milk then about a week later put in whole milk. you might think shes to old for abottle but it works.some kids it takes a little longer. my first was done at 19 months and my second just stoped . she turnd 2 in march.

  5. when she comes to you at night give her regular milk and see what she does.
