  1. Not if you're a 36 year Washington insider politician who makes flip flopping an artform. "Catholic Joe" with those supposedly conservative beliefs and also is one of the ACLU's favorite politicians.  By the way, that cheating issue in law school was just some sort of a misunderstanding too.   Go figure.

  2. Many catholics are liberals numbnuts

  3. Unfortunately no political party has a platform in line with Catholic social teaching.

The Catholic Church is pro-life in the widest sense. This is often called a "Consistent Ethic of Life."

This pro-life stance stresses the highest regard for dignity of human life including that of:

    • All people in objecting to unjust war and nuclear arms. (closer to Democratic platform)

    • The unborn in objecting to to abortion, in vitro fertilization, frozen embryos, embryonic stem cell research, and cloning (closer to Republican platform)

    • The elderly, sick and dying in objecting to assisted suicide and euthanasia (closer to Republican platform)

    • Prisoners in objecting to the death penalty (closer to Democratic platform)

    • The poor and minorities in supporting social justice issues (closer to Democratic platform)

Some Catholics are enthusiastically anti-abortion and align themselves with the Republican party.

Some Catholics align themselves with the Democratic party which supports the "Catholic" issues that effect the most people.

Neither party follows all Catholic teachings.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 2259 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3s...

    With love in Christ.

  4. There is nothing immoral about being liberal.  Catholics don't subscribe to murder but we are a forgiving faith and he can repent, seek forgiveness for the abortion thing.  There is nothing religiously wrong with punitive taxes that I am aware.  Nothing wrong with stealing 10% of the US economy by government fiat religiously that I am aware.  Nothing against treating g**s equally in any mainstream catholic religion.  Jesus lived under a dictatorship, why not hand over our feedom to liberals, its not a sin.  Its just a mistake.

Perhaps if you found a little religion yourself you wouldn't have to ask strangers on the internet to explain such things to you.

  5. There are some Catholic Democrats that are pro-life.  The problem is that the party, by  and large support abortion, g*y rights, and other social issues that are against Catholic doctrine.  They favor the democratic economic positions, but are still at odds over moral issues.  It seems contradictory, but they feel it is a matter of personal choice.  However, Biden doesn't even fit into that category.  He's the 3rd most liberal Senator, which to me, seems awfully hypocritical.

  6. - Massachusetts and California: 2 mostly Catholic and extremely liberal states.

    - France, Italy, Germany, Spain, etc.: all predominantly Catholic countries, all very liberal

There's a hole in your logic. Not everyone mixes their religion and politics. In fact, we have a very important idea in the United States called "separation of church and state".

  7. So what.  Religion denominations has nothing to do with who was picked as VP.  The law says we can't discriminate against anyone because of their Race, s*x, Religion or National Origin.  It's OK!

  8. As I Catholic I always wondered the same thing.
