Question:

How can Republican's continually talk about Democrat's raising taxes?

The Republican plan for not raising taxes is to just increase the National Debt.

Regan tripled the debt, Clinton kept it in check, and G. Bush tripled it again to $10 trillion. Bush and his cronies should be held responsible for paying that down.

The term liberal doesn't refer to liberal spending, but rather open-minded thinking.

  1. Not only are you right, but during this election in particular, the Tax Policy Center, NPR and the NY Times have revealed that the republican's claim that they would be cutting taxes and the democrats would not was plain FALSE. Obama will actually be cutting taxes for MORE people by taking back Bush' tax cuts for the FEW. The cable TV channels do not seem interested.

  2. Obama wants to raise taxes just so he can invade taxpayers' wallets.  He wants to put 10 million dollars into the economy, which he still has failed to say where he is getting it, expecting Americans to control their spending.  Not gonna happen, adding more money will increase the spending and that will put the country further in debt.  It's like charging one credit card to pay off the debt of another credit card.  It's always the Democrats who spend more and don't want to save.  Controlling spending and lowering taxes help businesses, which is the cornerstone of making the economy stimulate itself.  It's people who watch Oprah, listen to Michael Moore, and ignorant voters that push the country further away from unity.  All of the sudden it's Democrats vs. Republicans instead of Americans vs. Americans.

  3. Because they think that if they say it, it will somehow be true. Or at least that there are enough idiots out there who will take their word for it without doing any research... hopefully they're wrong.

  4. They say anything to get voters on their side. Of course they're not gonna be completely honest in their speeches. Bush said he would improve healthcare for all, but yeah, umm, not seeing a change. I'm glad those protestors were at the RNC because it just showed how many people have the common sense in knowing how full of it the Republicans really are.

schnauzer mom could've atleast made a real point after making that statement. Proves that many people just talk to talk.

  5. The debt went up under Reagan because spending wasn't kept under control.  Revenues almost doubled during his administration.  It was not a cut in tax rates that did the damage.

Clinton, with a lot of help from a Republican Congress that thwarted some of his spending ideas, did slow the growth of the debt.  Contrary to a lot of unfounded statements, he did not produce a surplus or pay down the debt.  It rose every year while he was in power.

Bush has been ridiculous.  Spending shot way out of control under his administration.  Put aside our military spending, which is 10 times that of our nearest competitor, domestic spending was the real budget breaker.

I'll be happy to see some fiscal responsibility again.  I am not at all confident Obama will deliver that, nor am I confident that he will lower or maintain current tax rates.

  6. Because America in general hates paying taxes.  This goes back to colonial times.  Remember "No taxation without representation"?  That concept has led us to thinking that if our taxes are going up, then our money is being wasted, whether it is really being wasted or not.

The funny thing is that sure our federal taxes may go down, but then the Republicans in the state raise the federal taxes.  If the state doesn't do it, then the local government decides to shoot up property taxes by 20% in one year.

  7. You are correct on the facts. But neither party lets the facts get in the way of a good sound bite.

  8. fyi: clinton didn't keep it in check.  he fudged the SS numbers so it LOOKED like a surplus.  in reality he handed bush a debit.

besides, bush gets a pass on national debt for the most part. most of his increased spending is on social programs (isn't that what you libs like?) and the rest is on 2 wars, a dozen natural disasters and bailing out companies to save a lot of jobs.

  9. republicans have lips that flap, and they force air over those lips and words form.

Now, Sarah Palin knows how to raise taxes. As Governor she oversaw tax increases in her state.

  10. wow, did you fail history or something?

EDIT: open minded about what? having a racist wife and priest, terrorist friends, felony friends, and being a closet homosexual?
