How can Satan be evil if God created him? Can god create evil? ?

Even through sin, a being must have the CAPACITY for evil to be evil, meaning a created created them to have that capacity.

For that matter, as, according to doctrine, Satan is necessary to God's "divine plan", God HAD to create Satan to rebel and be evil or the divine plan wouldn't have worked.

So....why do you think a being called Satan is evil is your perfect God had it planned all along?

  1. If a thing only has the option to do good, that thing is not really that complex. It doesn't have much depth. Having the capacity for both good and evil establishes the fact that humans are totally complex, diverse and different, yet interwoven in every way. Besides, free will comes into play as well. Only true love, joy, compassion, and hope can be achieved by free will. Robots can't love, because they lack the depth and free will to do so.

God didn't have to do anything, but He chose to create Satan. You forget that God is not bound by laws, rules, or standards.

Satan had a choice, and he chose evil. That's very much like my saying: well, a perfect God created all people and those people do bad things. This must be God's mistake. Far from it...people need learn to take responsibility for their own actions. You do something wrong; you admit and stop looking for a scapegoat.

EDIT: @ Miguel. Assuming that I follow God blindly displays your ignorance. Please keep it to yourself.

  2. Read the book of Job and you will see that G-d and Satan are in cahoots,,as a fallen angel ( and angels are messengers) Satan still does

G-d's work as the Tester.   What it means in mystical terms. is that, yes, radical evil is part and parcel of the make up of physical reality.  Now, what do we do when faced with it?  How do we act?  Jews don't moan and groan about heaven and h**l as we are a practical people.  And to say that the Messiah is going to come in the midst of a man made nuclear holocaust is totally not part of our scenario!!!  That is part of the Christian so called Zionist crazy ideology  L'Chaim!!!

And since the mystics who wrote that book did not want to dishearten the

literalists too much they made a happy ending to the story.

  3. God created human and angels with free will and they choose to be good or evil!!!

  4. Christians can't or won't hold their god to the standards of morality by which all of us are supposedly judged. Their rationale is that their god can do anything he wants with his own creations. "This might is right" mentality makes Christianity and its mass-murdering, megalomaniacal tyrant of a god morally bankrupt.

Back to answering your original question: It is logical to state that since the Christian god created EVERYTHING, he also created evil in the form of his created "Satan." Yet atheists know that logic, reason, and rationality are completely antithetical to religious faith, and therefore Christians are forced to go into utter denial about how - in imagining the Judeo-Christian god - they also created all the good and the evil that is part of their god's character and personality. That's what happens when you portray a supernatural being as one with common human traits.

Lastly, since Christians can't and won't judge their own god's obvious immorality, they unwittingly serve the devil their god created. That, to me, is a logical conclusion.

Edit @ Emerson - If your god is not bound by any earthly rules, why did you create them for him by saying he "chose to create Satan?" How do you know that? How do you know anything about your god other than what other people have told you that you blindly believe? Your god should be beyond knowing, so anything you say about him would be a lie.

Edit: Ah, the thumbs down are coming. The REAL truth hurts.

  5. We have the capacity to do good or evil It is our (and Satan's) choice to be evil.

  6. God knew that Adam and Eve given the free will would choose to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  So God had to create evil for man to experience.  So from the foundations of the world God has a redemptive plan to save man from his folly through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross.  God has to pay a great price to redeem man from his folly.  How great is the love of God to redeem us from our sins and make us all His children If we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. God bless you.

  7. Well according to Isaiah 45:7 (KJV) God created evil....

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

  8. God created everything perfect, but He gave them a choice. They rebeled. That is not His fault. He created us perfect, but we sinned.

  9. I believe that good and evil are simply by-products of man being given the gift of life ....  indeed, the value of good and evil, can only be perceived by man once he has that power to do so.  Everything in life is in balance ... good and evil are simply just another example of this.   To survive on this planet, man must have passion to build, rectify and create. Alas, passion is a big spectrum and must have extremes ... this is where evil creeps in. Good and evil naturally exist side by side ... otherwise we could not measure them if extremes did not exist.  God may well be our creator but even his own omnipotence has had to to accept that nothing is perfect, indeed our every lives depend on it. Its how we manage this balance that is all important ... a civilised society will balance it well .... others can only try and often fail.  We are here to lead our lives as a perpetual learning curve ... continuing through eons .... the fact that evil continues to proliferate simply shows what a steep and possibly never ending learning curve it is. God never planned this .... a world in crisis is only a reflection of some of his failings.

  10. Allah created the angels and jinn before He created the Prophet Adam. They were glorifying Allah with praise. Then, Allah created Adam (as), the first human being, and commanded the angels to prostrate themselves to him.

With wholehearted obedience, the angels complied with Allah's command and prostrated themselves to Adam. Yet, Iblis (Diabolis), one of the jinn, rebelled against this command. That is because, he believed that he was superior to Adam (as). Out of this arrogance, he replied to the question posed to him by Allah: "Iblis, what prevented you prostrating to what I created with My own Hands? Were you overcome by arrogance or are you one of the exalted?" (Surah Sad: 75), as follows:

"I am better than him. You created me from fire but You created him from clay."(Surah Sad: 76)

Iblis, who dared such a disobedience to Allah's command, was denounced by Allah and was destined to the eternal torment of h**l.

The reason why Iblis revolted against Allah was due to his "arrogance" or to put it in other words, "vanity". What instilled these feelings of pride in Iblis was a vice he had allowed to grow within himself: "Ego"…

The equivalent term of "ego" in Arabic (enaniyet) is a derivative of the word ene. It means attributing a separate existence to one' s self, seeing one' s existence apart from and independent of Allah, and orienting one' s deeds, attitudes and outlook by it.

Arrogance, on the other hand, is merely one of the manifestations of "Ego" Once a person builds an "ego-centered attitude", eventually he will begin to boast about the qualities and means Allah had granted to him as blessings, such that, these means become the presumed justification of his flawed mindset. As the Prophet Muhammad (saas) said in a famous hadith, "Arrogance means ridiculing and rejecting the Truth and despising people.' (Muslim)

No matter the circumstances, such a person sees himself superior and greatly valuable. In the Qur' an, such a person is said to deify himself.

Consequently, arrogance and, in connection with it, vanity, equals to associating partners to Allah and disbelief. In fact, this vice of Iblis' is explained thus: "... Iblis who was arrogant and was one of the disbelievers." (Surah Sad: 74)

The arrogance of Iblis, which made itself evident when he was commanded to prostrate to Adam (as), ultimately resulted in eternal torment for him. This account indicates how great a danger arrogance is to those who harbour this evil feeling in their heart.

Arrogance is Satan's most fundamental character flaw. Consequently, "arrogance" and "vanity", which is its derivative, are the source of all evil and perversion. As it was the case with millions of people who have lived in the past, these flaws for which Satan was guilty have also seized control of the base natures of innumerable number of people living today, drag them into the same evil ways of Iblis.

An arrogant person, that is, someone who attributes an independent power to himself, and thus shows an undue arrogance towards Allah, and turns his back to His verses, is continually vulnerable to Satan' s wiles. The purpose of this book is to present all the aspects of arrogance and the character flaws of a person who is seized by this malady, and to summon all, upon whom Satan exerts his influence, to avoid him and to cleanse themselves of this evil.

God has given us two path in life

    a good path

    another is evil path--->satan

we have choice to do good things or evil things in life

  11. God created the devil.

    the devil makes sin.

without any sin, there isn't a need for God

The point is is that you need God in your life ( unless you believe in God or not)

those thumbs downs are so beautiful.Just what to excpect from the oh-so judmental R&S

  12. God has probably killed more people than anyone ( according to the bible ) So wouldn't that make him the most evil?

  13. First of all, God created the angels as good beings, but He also gave them free will, which means that they could make their own decisions.

Secondly it was Lucifer who rebelled against God, because he didn't want to have to bow down to us mere humans.  As a result he took 1/3 of the angels with him, and he's now known as the devil and his followers are demons.

Third Satan is a butchering of the name Hasatan, which is the angel who persecutes humans before God.  In other words he's like the prosecuting attorney.

This is how I understand it.

  14. Your reasoning is based on two wrong assumptions

    1) Satan isn't necessary for God's plan

    2) Satan was good when God created him but he had free choice

(If your son turned into a murderer when he grew up, would that be your fault?

Did you make him that way?)

  15. Bearing in mind all the dozens of near identical questions you have asked before and our discussions.  I would suggest that you direct your time, energy and intelect towards what God COULD BE, not what you think other people may have got confused over.  You are wasting your mind, your time, and your substantial invesigative energy.  It is sad to see whenever i come across you repeating the same old irelevant rubbish. However - my very best wishes.

P.S. Something to chew on for you - Dark Matter is rather unfortunately named.  Light Matter would be nearer to the truth.

P.P.S. You also often go on about Santa etc.  Well Santa and some aspects of religions are similar.  However Saint Nicholas and God are factual.  Try to see the difference
