Question:

How can Wigan Wasps produce any future Olympians?

I don't recall any since June Croft took bronze in 1984. Now the Olympic size pool in Wigan is earmarked for closure, with relocation to a much smaller pool planned.

The diving platforms have been out of action due to disrepair for some years.

With inadequate facilities, how does the sport progress?

  1. I take it this is council run?  All councils run out of money, perhaps you could start a "save our pool " campaign?  Or get a swimming club that uses the pool to apply for a lottery grant for an up-grade?  There is other grant money available for health related projects and projects which keep young people occupied and off drug/drink. You might have to work hard on this one but I bet other people would get involved and give you a hand.
