  1. I'm a little afraid of your question....perhaps you need to explain a bit further.....forgive me if I am wrong (and I hope I am) I read this as if you are saying there isn't enough money in the home and your mom needs you to help pay the bills....at 13 that could be a big responsiblity.

When I was 13, I babysat and I had a paper route.  But that was a long time ago and things have changed drastically since then.   It is hard enough to trust an adult with your children these days, so I don't see much money in baby sitting.  And paper routes are now done by adults driving cars, no longer on a bike.  I know it is hard to get a job at 13.  Try doing odd jobs for neighbors.  Yard work/ short errands like maybe a quick trip to the store for someone/ walking dogs....I hope you find something you can enjoy doing.  I also hope your mom just meant you need to find your own spending money and not that you need to be acting like an adult...enjoy the few years of childhood you still have....

  2. OK if you want an after school job, there are plenty of employers looking for young employees.. start by asking around your parents friends might know of jobs available. then start asking shop owners, if there is any jobs going!... But honey your asking this question in the Pregnancy category. Try asking in the right category and you might get some more helpful ideas

  3. im 13 (but very mature for my age) and i make money online all the time. i buy and sell on ebay. i can repair  a ps2 no sweat, the last one i did made a profit of about 40 bucks. i also mow a couple yards in my neiborhood during the summer. i make an average of 70 to 100 dollars a week.

i currently own a ps3, iPod touch, xbox 360, $700 laptop, psp, ds, 34" flat screen sony tv, nintendo NES, atari 2600, a wii, and a bunch more c**p that i paid for myself and keep in almost mint coindition.  im great with computers.

but like i said, look and act much older than i am. last year in sixth grade someone thought that i was in high school.

let him/her mow some yards, shovel snow, rake leaves, ect.

    great income from that!

  4. What is wrong with online or at someone's house? Where else do you plan to work? I guess if you don't want to sell your stuff for free on craigslist you could pay your local paper $20 to place an ad of stuff for sale. I guess you could also pay that newspaper another $50 for another ad and advertise that you will babysit kids in YOUR home.

If your mom wanted to pay you money for chores I'm sure she would come up with them and not ask you to figure it out.

  5. I'd suggest the possibility of getting paid to do chores or tasks around the house.  If the child is a good student, tutoring is an option.  13 is a little too young for babysitting, but it's something to think about (they would drop the child off at your house).

Edit:  I read your additional comments, and your Mom is being a bit unfair in wanting you to work out of "duty."  You aren't even legally able to work right now, and can only find jobs on a cash basis.

Here are some ideas for you:

    - Babysitting (or being a sitter's assistant)

    - Paper route

    - Dog walking

    - Cat sitting

    - Lawn mowing/yardwork

    - Tutoring

    - Lemonade stand (hey, it works!)

    - Odd jobs around your apartment complex

    - Purge clutter around your home w/a garage sale

    - Being a magician's/clown's assistant (you would need to look in the paper for this)

Also, maybe your mom just wants you to be more responsible?  Talk to her and see if it's ok for you to just volunteer for now to get experience.  (Humane Society, Boys and Girls Club, retirement centers, etc. always need people).

  6. Set up a lemonade stand out front of your house or something. Or get paid by Mum and Dad to clean out Garage and have a garage sale too!

  7. I am not sure but are you saying that your Mom won't pay you an allowance for chores because it is your duty to the family?

I ask because I am trying to figure out if she is against you making any money or if she simply won't pay you to do the chores she believes should be a given.

If she does not object to you making a few extra bucks, then use living in an apartment to your advantage. Does your apartment or ones nearby allow dogs? Because dog owners are often in need of a dog walker once in while. Put up flyers by the mailboxes and in the elevator (if there is one) offering your services as a dog walker. You could charge $10 for 15-20 min walks. That way you could potentially earn $20 for less than an hour of work. That is far more money per hour than you would even get by babysitting which is typically $11-12 per hour.

If you go the dog walking route, than you should consider mentioning that you are willing to look after people's cats too. For example, feeding them when they go out of town or are going to gone a long time.

    Good Luck!
