I am American, my fiancee is Canadian. He works the oil firlds in Canada but isinterested in working in the oil fields in the US. We are planning to marry but not until early 2009. It is ideal for him to come to the US vs. me going to Canada...as I would have to find a an employer to sponsor me...which is tried and proven not to be successful due to the time frame of the employer having to file the appropiate forms.

My BF does will keep his permanent address in Canada. How would he go about filing to work in the US so he can apply for job positons within the oil rig industry in America?

My other question is: if the oil rig company is International with a brac\nch located in Canada and the US...is he able to work for that company without having to be sponsored in the US?

Please provide any links for applications.

  1. If you want any type of Worker's visa, you need US Employer who will sponsor the visa. So, the first thing to do is find and get a job with US Company.

  2. It's super easy... Canadians can work in the US without a visa.  There is a form, though.
