  2. the forces acting on such a large structure would lead to fatigue failure if not properly monitored. The pressure changes in the gasbags, the wind shear over the structure and landing forces...

    Couple that will apparently flammable material covering very flammable hydrogen and its no surprise they dont make em no more...

  4. The most obvious situation would be storms or high winds.  Look at the case of the US Navy's airship MACON which crashed in stormy weather off the coast of California.

    That would be the main vulnerability of any lighter-than-air craft.
