I will be with my boyfriend and we are trying to learn french so preferably in the south. Looking for websites, people with experience etc. thanks!

  1. You can take a leave without pay, but you will have to check with your boss and company whether it is possible!


  2. With the understanding that you will have obtained / do not need a long-term visa, it is easier to settle in Belgium than say France or Luxembourg.

    You could for instance find interim positions through local agencies like www.vedior.be or www.randstadt.be or apply for long-term employment through www.monster.be, www.leforem.be or www.actiris.be

    You can check accommodation through www.immoweb.be

    In due time, you can even apply for training in professions where there is a shortage, that is depending on your existing qualifications.

    For instance, agencies are complaining that they cannot find long-haul truck drivers and they finance the training.

    Also the construction industry lacks candidates: a woman friend of mine underwent training as a plumber and found work immediately.
