How can a cat climb a light pole?

Believe it! When I was six. My sister's cat climbed a light pole. It didn't jump from one place to the other. Straight up a cement covered light pole. Nobody saw how it happened. We found out the morning after our cat was crying to get down. Can anyone speculate?

Used it's claws. :) Just like a bear.

I would guess that the cat was motivated to climb something and that the cement on the light pole was porous or rough enough to allow her to climb the pole.  I think we safely assume she didn't fly..

My cat did the same thing with a christmas tree.  Cats are skilled climbers

the cement must have been pourous enough for him to get his claws placed and climbed on up.
