how it is processed, the substances used or components, the pros and cons when a corn is used to make biofuel. how can it be effective.

  1. Corn has corn starch.  Starch can be processed to make sugar.  (Hi fructose corn syrup)  The sugar can be fermented to make alcohol which can be added to gasoline.   The program has really been a disaster as it has driven up the cost of high fructose corn syrup so it is being replaced by sugar and the cost of food goods because the cost of corn has gone up and now the floods wiping out capability in the Midwest.  And it seems certain that the energy needed to grow and process corn is more than is delivered by the corn alcohol at the end.
