  2. get a big blk scary guy to jump out and scare u

  3. Dealing with anxiety can be difficult but with regard to the future, you first need to live today, not next week, not next month etc etc but today.

It's ok to think about what action plans may be required in the future, i.e family, housing, travel but you cannot have any of those things if you don't concentrate on your current environment

  4. I to suffer anxiety not just about the future but the past as well it makes me think all the time about more bad things then good because i felt like this really effected me more then normal i started taking anti depressants , im sure they are working , but of course you have good weeks and bad weeks, so if you feel really uneasy with anxiety maybe you should see your GP , ive been one of those people that have tried to live for the moment but for some reason i have trouble doing so , goodluck

  5. Go speak to your doctor and maybe go see a councellor. You could also try learning to set goals so that the future doesnt seem so empty and scary. You set longer term goals and shorter term ones based on the longer term goals. I have anxiety and someone has recently taught me how to set goal like this and it has helped a fair bit. But go see your doc first and see what they advice. There is much that can be done to help you with anxiety these days - medical and non medical so find out what may help you. It is better to be doing something to help yourself then nothing and so the anxiety continues and has a grip over you.

    Take Care, good luck

  6. Fear of the future is often about change. It represents the unknown, and is potentially frightening. Anxiety is addressed in section 6 of my website, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris (view page N first) and change is a topic in section 28.

With fear, the idea is usually to confront your fear, but this is impossible to do with the future, so I suggest that you learn, and become proficient in one of the relaxation methods shown, and practice being "in the moment", as much as possible, and if you catch yourself backsliding into worry about the future, use the technique for reprogramming negative thoughts.

  7. It's absolutely natural to worry about the future once in a while, but chronic worrying or anxiety can harm your health. Whenever you catch yourself getting anxious about the future,"ask yourself if your anxiety is going to change anything?" the answer is obviously no! so you know it's no point thinking about it. I know it's easier said than done. A good way to deal with your anxiety is to try and distract yourself, involve yourself in something that takes your mind away from the future. Things like reading a funny book, listening to music, exercising, developing a hobby can help. The following links might give you some ideas-
