Question:

How can a disconnected phone line work?

I changed my phone service provider (talktalk) and now have a cable phone (virgin) and the phone company sent me a final bill and told me they had disconnected the line.

The line is sill on 6 months later, and works for both incoming and outgoing calls, I only use it for incoming calls.

How is this possible? And as we don't have a contract over the line, could they charge me for a service I never asked for.

  1. I'm suprised it works for outgoing. Sometimes phone companies leave the line when someone moves and doesnt transfer the number, they shouldnt charge you  if they sent you a final bill and said its turned off.

  2. Bad case of poor communication within a communication company, if you received a final bill you are not under contract so you wont have to pay, but what happens is you call to cancel, billing is supposed to send out order to assigner to take number out of switch, they either just missed it or the system coded out the ticket before assigner could see it.

  3. They shouldn't charge you and what they did is they left it hooked up to the lines. If you paid your last bill and there is no contract they can't charge you...
