How can a doctor who has obtained her diploma in the Netherlands work in the USA?

Do I have to take certain exams over again or do I have to go to Med School all over again. Please answer me with as many details as possible. Thank you!

  1. You must take and pass the USMLE exams to be able to practise medicine and do a residency in the US. Your university must be accredited (I've seen that even so/so unis to be accedited so it's highly likely your school is accredited too). All of the exams are in english and the third exam must be done in the United States.

    You don't have to redo the career, just pass the tests.


  2. There are 'Certificate' exams given by each State.

    Some internship to pick up local customs might be required.

  3. I'm afraid I don't know the details, but I think there's an exam, and probably more. But when I was teaching one of my residents was from the Netherlands, so there's obviously a way. Sorry I can't tell you what it is.
