  1. I am not sure which is your case.

If the Seller did not have a Title:

You're not allowed to buy a car unless the seller has the Title.  The seller has to get a Duplicate Title, if they lost theirs, in order to transfer the Title over to you.

If you had the Title but lost it:

Go to the DMV website and type Lost Title in the Search box and your State in the State Box for instructions on how to get a Duplicate Title.

    Good luck!

  2. get the VIN take to the DMV

  3. Try going to a car dealer or vehix.com and see if thise two things can handle your problem.

  4. Well, if the title wasn't handed over to you when you bought the car, you didn't buy the car.  That's how you sell a car, with the title.  And if the guy you bought the car from, didn't HAVE a title, he's not legally allowed to sell the car.

You can go down to the DMV with the vin, and they'll tell you the steps you have to go through to get this thing titled to you - IF it's not stolen, and IF there's no loan on it.  If it's stolen or there's a loan on it, they'll send a truck to pick it up - because IT'S NOT YOUR CAR.     If it's not stolen, and there's no loan, you'll have to get a bond, and pay lots of money, and this will take between 4 and 6 months to get resolved.

  5. GO to the DMV with your invoice and any related paperwork and apply for a duplicate title.

  6. go to DMV and say " i lost my title" they will sell u a new one..bring ID...if u lost it before you titled it in your name you don't really own it yet...just hope you can locate old owner and he gets u a new one..good luk with that

  7. At the DMV.  Take all of the vehicle information and tell them you want to put it in your name.  If the previous owner already reported it sold, then you won't have any problem.

  8. go to your secretary of state office, or whatever the office that issues license plate is called in your state.

Ask them for a lost tilte form so you can get yours replaced it will cost a little but at least you will ave it. In my state in takes less than a week to get a replacement title-- which is about the amount of time I spent in line at the sec. of state office!! (lol)

  9. Go online to the Department of Motor Vehicles for your state and click lost title.. follow the instructions. .its all about filling out the right forms.  Yes, you will need the VIN number which is in the lower section of your windshield, its a very long number and you absolutely need that info to get title.

  10. It's under your pillow.

  11. If you mean that the previous owner did not furnish you with a title when you bought the car then he is responsible for furnishing you with a merchantable title and you are responsible for getting that title when you hand over the money for the vehicle.   If you lost the title to your own car, see your DMV
