1. Make the sign large and noticeable. Word it:

No selling.

No begging.

No religious proselytizing.

No political campaigning.

2. If someone does come to the door, ask why they rang the bell even though the sign was up, simply to get the feedback.

3. If they have any handouts with their organization's address and phone, take it. Then call and say that if anyone else comes to your door, you'll sue them.

4. Jehovah's Witnesses are the worst. I've always wondered if coming on to them would work. You know, tell 'em they're cute, then reach out and start unbuttoning their shirt...
