hello - which two major firms?  if you mean PwC, D&T, EY, KPMG then it can affect the financial services area in a number of ways.  Most major financial firms use one of those for their accounting, another for their tax reporting, and perhaps a third for consulting.  So if those four become three then the banks will have fewer choices, and may also need to use other providers to prevent conflicts of interest.  It could be great for some of the second tier firms, give them more access to the bigger banking clients.
