Me and my friend are 16 and 17 and we live in Southern California (Mission Viejo). We wanted to travel to Tijuana for a day but we dont have a ride there. How can we get there cheap and what is required to get through the border. Also, would taking a shuttle bus into Mexico mean we dont have to present a passport or ID?

  1. There are several tour companies that do day trips to Mexico from LA and OC.  Just google it.

Everyone has to present passport (or ID and Birth certificate) regardless of mode of travel.

  2. Getting in wont be a problem but getting out you need to have a passport and parental permission in a notarized letter to be able to get back out.

Your best bet would be to wait until you are 18 then all you will need is the passport.

  3. Stay away from border towns !!!!!!!!! they are NOT safe -

Normally when you cross the border into a border town you need nothing, but coming back into the USA you will need  ID's - Better get your passport - Tijuana is NOT a place for teenagers !!!!!
