  1. You mean adoption, not abortion.

If the birth mother chooses to do open adoption, they actually get to pick the adoptive parents.  When they call the agency, they can give the agency their criteria for adoptive parents.  For instance it can be based race, age, religion etc.  Out of that criteria the agency will find all the matches and send out letters and information on all the families that match.  Then the birth mother will go through everything and start contacting families.  Based on her criteria, and her conversations with the families, she will pick one.

So in essence the birth mother has full control over who is picked to adopt her child.

  2. Abortion means killing the baby before its born... I see now, you mean adoption, but it was confusing at first:):) I'm pretty sure there's a site with all of that info.

  3. It's involvement after ADOPTION. If someone is ABORTED they would be dead and they wouldn't have any contact anyway.

In adoption contact after the finalization is called open adoption.

  4. In placing a child for adoption, there are 2 options.  A birth mother can go to an agency, and meet prospective adoptive parents (PAP's), or like my son's birth mother did, we met and did a private adoption.  She knows where we live, visits anytime she wants (although she hasn't come since he was a month old).  We are wanting to adopt another baby, and hope to do it through the same attorney, and almost all people who adopt have to have a home study, which the birth mother can demand to see before the baby is born.  Wish I could meet another birth mother!

  5. what is the punch line?

  6. i think you need to correct your question?

  7. check out this site to help you www.wikipedia.org/wiki/open_adoption and also www.adoptionhelp.org and www.openadoption.org there may be answers there for you, in a lot of cases the mother can meet and the adoptive parents even be in the birthing room with the mother at birth.  a few cases the mother even picks out the adoptive parents through the foster care system.  you  can also call you local DCF system and ask a case worker for details.

  8. I think you mean adoption, not abortion.  We adopted our 2 children- and their birth moms totally selected us as parents- our attorney- did not select us- today if the birth mom goes to a trustworthy attorney or adoption agency- they can select the parents for their child.  I know my children's birth mom did. They told us personally too

  9. You can research "private adoption", in which the mother normally chooses the adoptive parents.  Often these placements are supposed to be open or semi-open adoptions, whereas the mother can maintain some type of contact with the adoptive family and her relinquished child.  Open and semi-open adoptions are not legally enforceable, however.

  10. Open adoption isn't enforceable in any state and the adoptive parents have the ability to change the adoption by closing it based on their decision alone.

A mother can choose whoever she wants to adopt her child and have a private adoption since adoptions aren't regulated in that department.

  11. your question says abortion for the record :) Open adoption allows the mother to know the child and know the new parents.

    Good luck
