  1. Stay at home.Do not go into town.Do not use Internet,or telephone......become a hermit.

  2. Find something non damaging to fill the void she is trying to fill with shopping. x

  3. throw your "piggy bank" out the window and if nobody wants it then you've went to far! Get counseling,  insecurity isn't such a drastic problem that we "must" go to an extreme an put ourselves at risk of bankruptsy and homeless to an extent. Most compulsive disorders are easily controlled after the real culprit is found and a systen of change is invited (oh, c**p that sounds like Obama!) Heh, Heh,

  4. Stop listening to marketing, that means no TV, less magazines, movies etc. Don't shop as a pass time, go have conversations with people instead. Cut up the credit cards and learn to live within your means.

  5. This isn't really an economics question. You just have to have discipline and save the money as you may need it for something a lot more important later.

  6. Lock up/cut up your credit cards and only pay with cash. Paying with credit is always so easy (just one swipe), when you actually have to pull out the cash and count it, it's always harder to part with, and makes you really think about how much you're about to spend. Also, after a long day of shopping on a credit card, who remembers how much they've spent? When you pay in cash, you can easily count how much you've spent in the day by seeing how much you have left. If you really want to budget yourself, only bring a limited amount of cash to begin with, that way you're forced to stay on budget.

  7. try to find something really meaningful to sepnd your money on in life.  For example I just found an organisation called marysmeals.org (website) you won't want to spend money on rubbish if you think about it.  I mean £5.30 to feed a person for a WHOLE YEAR!

  8. Start stealing. JK-  People that shop a lot are the ones keeping our economy going; just don't go into debt!

  9. sleep more

    move onto another craze

give themself a scare by watching a baliff reality tv programme

  10. Cut up the credit cards ;)

I mean.. literally.. with scizzors ROFL

  11. You should read the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella, they're really good!

    But on more serious terms:

    - do NOT, i repeat, DO NOT, ever open store cards that work like credit cards. i work in a shop and have to sell them all the time even though i personally would never advise opening one as it is too easy to fall into the mindset of buying more than you can afford. (that means if you have any, pay them off and cancel them ALL)

    - whenever you go shopping, always have in your mind what you want to buy, learn to control yourself and not buy things on the spur of the moment just because you like the look of them, if it's cheap etc (if it's in the sale and you wouldn't have bought it at full price then you're not saving yourself money)

    - whenever you make a purchase you should always think to yourself "do i need this!" and if the answer really is truly yes then buy it

-try to pay as much as possible in cash, handing over that money means you actually see the money you're losing instead of just a quick swipe on the credit card and if it's possible budget yourself and take only a limited amount of money with you on a trip
