Hee hee, I'm just being silly! Just a fun question since it's near Easter.

Let's face it. A bunny hop is a bunny hop. Not much you can do with it.

But who can come up with a cool way to make a bunny hop more interesting?? I dare anyone to do a triple bunny hop - ha ha!!!!!!!!!

  1. Sorry this was bothering me.

bending one leg ona bunny hop makes it a stag,

going into the splitz in one makes it a split jump.

You could always do a double bunny (up and down on same leg)

    but mainly just arms.

More advanced jumps look cooler though.

I love practicing double flips =]

  2. Ha ha, I really didn't think there was an answer to this question but the description of waltz 3's as bunny hops sounds kind of fun!  I know a lot of people who hate the bunny hop but I've always like them.  It's a fun way to gather speed down the ice.

My daughter jokes around and does some wild thing with her arms on bunny hops.  Sorry...I got nothin'.

  3. oh haha i used to hate bunny hops! but now theyre really fun to add into a fun program for a showcase or something like that. i just did a fin program to "I've Got the World on a String" by Michael Buble. and did 7 bunny hops with my hands on my hips and i kicked my foot a lot so it was like i was skipping. very fun!

    happy easter!!!

  4. The only one I can think of is in Blades of Glory when the blond guy (who was in Napolean Dynamite) did a series of bunny hops while "flapping" his arms like a bird. His program had a "bird theme," and at the end, he somehow let a dove out of his costume.

I'm wondering what a double bunny hop would look like.

    Always,

  5. i can think of is adding a forwards drag at the end of it, if you got down quick enough it might be possible *starts jumping round room* yea... maybe...

anothr thing *very hard to explain* would be to alternate take off legs, so you're doing them on both... but when you land quickly swing your free leg across in a crossroll... they look kinda random, its sorta continuous alternating bunny hops crossed with forwards cross rolls :P

the above thing can be modified by picking with your back skate as you 'hop' up..... *its really hard to explain on here lol* so you're doing a right bunny hop, cross, pick-left bunny hop, cross, pick-right bunny hop, cross.... etc etc etc. it ac tually makes the thing meantioned above a little easier.just make sure to really spring off that toepick... ( imagine dorothy's little skipping dance down the yellow brick road in wizard of oz, its pretty much what it looks like if you get high enough :) )

try doing a waltz 3 with bunny hops instead! :P (landing position, BO mohawk, bunny hop, FO 3-turn, landing position, BO mohawk......)

and of course theres always varying arm positions...

experiment with it and have fun :D lol i wanna go and see what i can do with it now...

    happy easter and happy skating!!

  6. Hmm, I'd say you could spice one up by adding a big kick and as much split as you can to it.  Some big, extended arm movements might help too.

Or....I have an adult skater that I teach who does his bunny hops sort of backwards.  He holds his foot out first, rather than kicking it forward like kicking a soccer ball, then hops, puts his toe in the ice.....it sort of looks like that crazy jump you see rockers do when they're really jamming on their guitars.  It's sort of funny to watch, but I'm afraid he'll get hurt some time if he keeps doing it the wrong way....but it is sort of entertaining.  :)

  7. Do you mean rotate in the air? Is that even possible? (Not thinking about trying it.)

Well you could change around your arms. Over the head, to the sides, one to the side, behind your back, extended out. Yeah that's about it I guess.

Or wait, do a combo jump. Haha. Right into a flip.

  8. the only thing i would think is to do something with your arms...like throw them up above your head or something....maybe a bunny hop, side hop, bunny hop??? or bazerka bunny hop. or bunny hop then a lunge after or vice versa..  i dont know..just combine it with something else? haha ..interesting question
