I am a teen and am wondering what is the best bank to get a checking account? I live in mobile, al and there is no wells fargo or bank of america. I have been doing research and it seems those are the best ones for a teen but they are not in my area.

  1. depending on age you shoudl be able to open one that is yours only.  You may be able to open one online... with boa or wells.

You might also check ing direct to see if they have anything for banking online.

It might take some learning but I know peopel that bank online only. I prefere boa because they have atms at almost every airport and they are all over.

hope that helps. youmight also check schwaub which has high ratings...

  2. call your local banks and see what the offer for kids/teens- most of them now a days have special programs.  You can do a regular checking account but if you are under 18 you will have to have a parent added on to your account.  Both our girls have free checking - no min. amount required and debit cards but as they were underage we had to put our name on the account as well.

  3. go to the bank and ask for one ...but you have to have a parent signature...thats what i did..

  4. how about a credit union? they are just as good as any of the banks you mentioned.

  5. Most banks or credit unions will allow you to open a checking account if you have a deposit account with them.  They may want an adult on the account with you.  If so, tell your parents you would like to open the account and have them monitor while you show them how responsible you are.
