As you may know, Dolly is approaching southern Texas, which is where I live. Currently, we're in a tornado watch. How can that happen at the same time as a hurricane?

  1. In a hurricane, the areas north and east of a hurricane are the most dangerous, and this is where tornadoes are most likely to form.

Hurricanes spin counter-clockwise. And it's this spin that can lead to the formation of tornadoes. If you've ever gone canoeing, you'll notice that your paddlestroke will often cause little whirlpools in its wake. It's kinda like that. As a rainband pinwheels onshore, it acts like a paddle and puts a spin on the air. And so a tornado forms.

  2. I dont know but I dont think we will be getting any..I am from Brownsville..its just alot of rain and strong wind

  3. in the eye of  a hurricane it can often happen. Sometimes it even happens in a hurricane. i wouldn't be too worried about it.

  4. at least its not raining everyday. i live in eastern Massachuttes and its raining verysingle day. i'm in a thunderstorm right now

  5. yes. they can happen. i am under tornado watch too.  there was already a tornado near sinton moving towards Taft, but idk where it went from there. don't worry!  just be prepared incase anything happens!

oh, i forgot you said HOW.  the wind on the north side of the hurricane is faster or something, and something else about temperature. idk.
