i understand the concept of loveing your country but what i dont understand is how can american children want to be cowboys when cowboys were the opresors and savages not the indians theyr whole culture is based upon the slauthering of inocents and then actualy being proud of it! instead of acepting indians and trying to form a cultural bond with them u simply and mindlesly killed them with the excuse of them being "savages" (i know that your ancestors did this and not u but still as i said dont think of cowboys as heroes... but acept that they were the savages

  1. okay first of all when" America " was first permanently settled it was by the english and the did get along with the native peoples in most cases, as more and more territory was claimed and settled by the english and french the began to force out or kill the NA ( native americans ), they being the english mostly a war was fought between the three sides with the french and NA against the english, English won french surrendered territories, and the indians either fled or decided to live on the land given to them by the english. as the 13 colonies took shape and then rebelled and won twice against the british in the american revolution and then the war of 1812, the states became crowded, So President Jefferson decided to buy land from France ( Louisiana Purchase ), the whole problem was that allot of it was indian land, so the U.S. army went in and yes they burned, killed, pillaged, and raped, and yes we have made several apologies to the native americans, and you are incorrect, cow boys were used to herd large groups of cows form near Texas to the northeast where they were much more valuable, and you're over reacting by basing this whole question on the games of American Children being ignorant and playing " Cowboys and Indians ", we acknowledge it was wrong and we teach it to our children in school when they are old enough to understand it, if you want to keep arguing pointlessly do it with the toddlers being "racist" towards Native Americans

  2. You don't mention where you are from!

I bet if you look back you will find some so called savages in your history.

    The romans killed the christians

    The germans killed the jews

    The Irish and the english

Dont be so close minded on the USA.

  3. So the indians who cut hearts from live men and who also scalped live men are not in any way a savage? And every territory every claimed had some killing involved... So why would this matter?

  4. By that logic no countries citizens should be proud. All countries became what they are today by the old adage of conquer and divide.

Cowboys are the men and women who's livelihood is instilled by hard work day and night, they are the beginning of the journey of how the steak I eat eventually ends up on my plate, they are one of the peoples who feed our country.

It was the government who slaughtered the Native Americans, but lets not view this one sided as people tend to do, there were many hostile Native Americans who slaughtered peaceful settlers as well, yes that would be white women and children.

I would be interested to know what country you are from, I'm sure it too has many skeletons in its closet.

  5. Okay so I should hate my country because of some S**t that happened 100's of years ago that I had nothing to do with? Ridiculous......besides the majority of that happened when the population was British.."Americans" didn't even exist.

  6. well i disagree with a lot of the answers you received. no.1 how can someone claim a land when people were already here? america has no culture, they robbed everyone elses culture and call it a "melting pot". no.2 as far as my knowledge goes i was under the impression that it was still being taught in schools that christopher columbus discovered america. at the tender age of 10 i went to my local library researching america and its origins only to find that indians were here before anyone. i book reported this went to school and my teacher gave me a d. so maybe now schools are telling the truth, but i'm not sure. i'm 22 now. indians were not savages they had a different way of life. they respected the earth and everything in it. maybe if "americans" did this today the planet wouldn't be in as much trouble as it is. the indians deserve a lot better than what they got!

  7. You need to look at your history books again .REALLY. America was established in 1776 not 1492. In 1492, America was discovered. The British found America and took over. British rebels broke away and came to America to establish there own country. AMERICANS killed BRITS to protect there freedom. Back in the days your refering to they were not Americans. We are proud and love our country because of the struggle that are ancestors faced and the wars we've fought to keep what we got.
