They say only Mexicans and illegals will do backbreaking manual labor. s***w that, I'm a poor college student and some of these jobs pay like $30 an hour! I'll do them and I speak English! So where can I, a legal English speaking American, get a job on a construction site or highway team or just digging holes in the ground for cash?

  1. You don't dig ditches with a shovel and get 30 dollars an hour, typically it is done with heavy machinery and those are skilled positions, Construction is also skilled at nearly all levels, roofers, plumbers, painters electricians etc. Go around to construction sites and ask for work, you will start as a laborer picking up scraps and trash etc, you will not be paid much more than minimum wage. Good Luck..

  2. i dont kno where u get your facts but those jobs do not pay 30$ an hour. the people that hire illegals are looking for people that do the jobs for less money. thats common sense. but u r right if they did pay that much i would be so down to do some backbreaking work. i would do a lot for 30$ an hour. but to answer your ? to get a job go stand on the street with those border hoppers wait for some1 to pick you up. haha

  3. Check monster.com (ditch digger) I think those jobs are done with machinery but look into it. I don't think you'll find too many jobs at 30hr, 12hr is more likely. Good luck, get your degree and stay out of debt.

  4. To dig a hole you don't need to speak english. As a matter of fact, you don't need to speak

  5. Find a construction site

    ask for the foreman

tell him your green and would like to work.

  6. uh... go to where all the day laborers are, stand with them and wait for a car to pick you up I guess...?

  7. Check with your State Employment Service.  Or check the company name on the sides of trucks at some work sites ... and go fill out an application .

  8. See if you can find an electrician company.  I know someone who is an american who started out digging ditches when he worked as an electricians assistant.  Also look and see if you have a labor ready in your area.  You can get hard jobs like that from them.

  9. Hmmmm. I dunno. I never thought about that. Try contacting a local construction company and ask.

  10. Good for you! I'm tired of paying for un-employment checks to people who say there's no jobs out there. I suggest you go the nearest construction site and ask, or the nearest construction company's yard.

    Good Luck!
