How can an Asus P5K-VM Motherboard connect to a disc drive?

They give you installation cd's for the drivers so obviously you must be abel to somhow, yet i can't figure it out. The one spot where it could connect to is where the hard drive has to go as it's just ATA, not SATA.   1. You can connect 2 devices to each ATA MB connector. You need a ATA ribbon cable that has 2 drive connectors.


  2. ATA can handle 2 devices per cable... 1 "Master" and 1 "slave"  If your cable only has a single connector (well 2... 1 for the MB, one for the drive) then you need a cable with 2 (3) connectors.  Set the HD as master, the CD drive as slave.

  3. dude your ata cd reader is useless

    it has 1 IDE or 4 SATA for this mobo

    get a new cd-rom/dvd-rom/ram whatever and make sure its SATA or IDE
