Americans are not able to get Canadian citizenship unless you marry a Canadian. Thats it, only way.

You must apply to emigrate - that takes a few years to be processed. You can apply as a skilled worker - provided you have the right skills and qualifications.

Once you arrive in Canada as a permanent resident, then you must live in Canada for 3 years to be eligible for citizenship.

You will not have to give up your American citizenship in order to get Canadian citizenship.

You can immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker (need to qualify on a points system) or through a provincial nominee program (need a job offer and certain skills).

Applying as a skilled worker from the US; would take around 18 months but you would have permanent residency right away.  As a provincial nominee you would have a work permit in a couple of months and permanent residency in less than a year.

After living in Canada as a PR for 3 years, you can apply for citizenship.  It takes about a year to process.

Marry someone.... it is going to be extremely difficult to gain citizenship in another country at this moment in time.
