If it's too much. Is there any way to shut it off aside from pulling oneself away from everyone?

  1. An "empath" can "turn it off" if they come to the realization that they are creating those emotions themselves by their own devout belief in their supposed paranormal ability, their anxiety being around people and crowds, and their power of suggestion.

  2. In my experiences, the ability to 'turn it off' has not ever existed; at least for me.  I, myself, have tried a great many things.

Warning: DO NOT SMOKE WEED OR DRINK ALCOHOL

while everyone is different, these have only intensified the empathy in my life.

  3. An empath has to build up their our spirit in order to create personal boundaries. The overflow of emotions from others can be diminished, but never completely controlled. The only true solution is isolation, which isn't really a solution at all.

  4. umm do you mean telepathy? an empath is someone who feels compassion for some one else.

  5. You can't. You have to learn & understand the feelings you feel around other people are not yours. That these feelings belong to someone else. Once you reach the stage of understanding who these feelings are coming from, it is up to you to decide to help.

You can not run & hide from life. So start with your friends, if you sense nervousness, sadness or happiness around them, ask them what is going on in thier lives. If you feel you know the reason why, talk to them, It will be a validation of your empathy.

Maybe the person is depress, ask why, they just may need to talk about something or get advice. Sometimes a person just needs someone there.

  6. I would recommend some anti-anxiety medication.  This beats being a shut-in, right?

  7. They can stop the act and get real.
