This group has had no activity for nearly 3 years. Another group would like to use the name. There appear to be no owners or moderators.

  1. I was a member of a group that was bombarded with spam and the owner had abandoned it and could not be contacted. There were no other Moderators so the group was out of control. I contacted Yahoo Customer Services and they offered a solution to vote in a new Moderator with the same privileges as owner except the ability to delete the group. I now manage the group as if I was owner, moderating it strictly. This may also be possible for your group.

  2. The owner or the privileged moderator can only delete a group. If they aren't one of them, there is no solution. Leave the group and create a new one one with a close name.

How do I delete a group? What happens to a group once it's deleted?

  3. there's nothing you can do- yahoo at this time doesn't shut down groups for inactivity. they only shut them down for TOS violations.

try making a group name close to the one already in use, maybe using underscores.

    it's the only option, sorry
