Question:

How can an individual make a difference in regards to the Climate Change Crisis?

I know the best thing to do is to get involved and get others involved. This could be done by starting or joining community organizations and trying to talk to local and state governments to alter regulations on emissions and other things. What is the one thing that an individual can do to be proactive on this issue? What action can one person take on their own without enlisting the help of others or politicians?

Whats the best way to lead by example?

  1. Follow Al Gores lead!

No, wait, he doesn't reduce or reuse!

    Ok, then buy carbon offsets!

While you are doing that, also give to NOW and a Battered Woman's shelter, that way, following Gore's logic, you have the right to use your spouse as a punching bag.

    Ok, Ok, here it is:

NOTHING! There is no such thing as man-caused global warming!

Fact: CO2 levels have followed temperature, not the reverse. If temps. rise before CO2 levels, then CO2 cannot possibly cause the rise in temp.

  2. I think one of the best ways to make a difference is to lead by example.  Lower your own carbon footprint as much as possible.  Bike, use public transportation, maybe an alternative fuel vehicle, make your home energy efficient, use renewable energy if possible, etc.  If others see you doing this sort of thing, they'll start to think 'hey I bet I could do that too...'  I've had several people ask me about my electric moped, and a few have looked into purchasing one after seeing me ride mine.

Another important step is to support politicians who make global warming a top priority, and make it known that this is a critical position for your support.  When discussing politics with family/friends/etc., discuss the candidates' positions on climate change.

  3. 1)  Read.  You'll discover the Sun drives climate change on THIS planet.  It's not a coincidence this warming trend perfectly mirrors solar activity stronger than any seen in over a thousand years.

    2)  Spread what you've learned.  There are a lot of people willing to become slaves over this bit of hysteria.  We've got to wake them up before they take us all with them.

  4. well i would say maybe just do little things that make a diffrence. maybe walk more than ride in your car or just let other people no what is going on no matter how much they dont want to believe its happening. i hate how people just make excuses!! sry it just bugs me alot. but all i no is basically the usual:/

  5. 1. Go Vegan

    2. Buy local (food to everything)

    3. Ride a bike

  6. 0.7 degrees C in 108 years is not a "climate change crisis."

  7. Refuse to do business with any of the companies that have reaped ursurus profits from the AGW scam.

  8. Everybody can do their part. You can just by simply inspiring others by using a tshirt with eco-friendly slogans for instance.

  9. reduce reuse recycle.

  10. As the person above me said, global warming has been a slight (very slight) increase in the average temperature which has occurred over the last 100 years or so.

It amuses me how so many people are convinced that it's hotter now than it was when they were younger, or that it used to snow more before all this global warming took place.

The other day it was very hot and the woman in line behind me at the store commented that this was obviously proof of global warming.  I kept my opinion to myself but I thought "There have been hot days since the beginning of time. How the heck does a hot day prove any scientific theory?"

Last winter we had several record cold days. By this logic does that prove that global warming doesn't exist?

There has been a gradual increase in average temperature over the last century. Some people believe that it is the result of buring fossil fuels. Others believe that natural phenomenon such as volcanic activity and sunspots contribute much more to the earth's temperature than does the C02 produced by humans.

New data indicates that over the last ten years the average temperature has stabilized. Over time, the climate changes. Much of North America was once a tropical forest. Around the time of the American Revolution there was a mini ice age in which temperatures dropped to much lower than average.

The last part of your question is the most interesting. "What's the best way to lead by example?" I find it extremely ironic that the people who are most vocal about the need to do something about global warming (Celebrities, politicians, etc.) use ten times as much energy as do the rest of us with their huge houses, big cars, and private airplanes.

I believe in frugal living, conservation, and respecting the environment. Even though I'm not convinced that global warming is caused by human activity, I think I'm doing more to prevent it than most of the people who talk about it on TV.

  11. if you can use less paper towels and use more air driers or you could wipe it on your pants

  12. Phase out any incandescent light bulbs you have in your house & replace them with CFLs. Try to maximize your use of natural light by opening the curtains.
