How can any average American believe the political elite could understand how they live?

...so why do Americans keep electing them to office?Wouldn't it be better to pull someone off the street?

  1. It's well documented how the average American lives.  The political elite can't experience it firsthand, but they have a general idea.

  2. I'm with Sahara. Combine what she said with term limits for all elected and appointed officials like the 2nd person said and you might get a group of people in our government who actually know what really keeps us up at nights.

    I think that was Jimmy Carter's appeal at the voting booths.

  3. Well, someone in the senate makes about $175,000.  That salary by nature would equate them to the elite even if they were just pulled off the street.

  4. We don't but have to chose between the lesser of two evils.  I for one would love to see mandatory term limits on all politicians at all levels so that they have to work for a living at some time in their life.

  5. No, not unless the person being pulled off the street has to prove that they are smarter than the average person.

    I hear you. It is frustrating. They don't know and they don't care. The part where they don't care is what bothers me immensely. It's scarey.
