When you are laughing at them, do you think about the victims?

  1. There's an important distinction to be made between making jokes about actual paedophiles and making jokes about fictional paedophiles.  If the joke involves a fictional paedophile then in reality there obviously are no victims about whom to think.  It's like watching a movie; there is almost always some degree of cruelty involved in the plot but you still consider it entertaining because you know that no one is actually being harmed.

For example, look at the joke mentioned in honky275's answer above.  It describes an event involving 'a paedophile'.  Clearly neither the paedophile nor the victim actually exist and the event did not actually happen.  And judging by the three thumbs up, no one is particularly offended by it.  But if the punchline were attributed to an actual paedophile who lured children into a forest, that answer probably would have been reported and deleted by now.

  2. I agree with you Dame

  3. Put your thoughts else where

THIS IS JOKES SECTION    GO   AWAY   !!!!!!

  4. It's called black humor.  We laugh because the subject matter is so outrageous and disturbing, that if we didn't laugh, we'd probably cry at the tragedy involved.

Example:  A pedophile and a small child are walking into the woods.  The child says he's scared, and the pedophile says, "You're scared - I have to walk out of these woods alone!"

You can have one of two reactions, you can cry at the implied tragedy or laugh at the black humor involved.  Since the situation is not really happening, it's just a suggested situation, many people would choose to laugh, it's a normal human reaction.

  5. usually when i hear those kind of gross jokes, i just say, 'not funny and gross.'

  6. A man and a little boy are walking through the woods as the sun is setting.  The little boy keeps looking up at the man and saying, 'It's getting dark and I'm scared.'  The man looks back at the bay and says, 'You're scared?  I have to walk back alone!'

  7. Just like some people can find racist or sexist jokes funny. Some jokes have rape as their subject. Some have death. Some have fatness or sexual problems.

Many jokes touch on subjects that have meaning for us.

  8. unless its about their extermination, then its not funny, i agree

  9. Pedophilia, rape, death, why shouldn't we find jokes about these things funny? Yes, each of these things is serious and the actual instances are tragic. But it's in laughing at the concepts themselves that we can at least feel some dominance over them.

If I couldn't make a suicide joke, I'd want to jump off of a building. If I couldn't make a pedophile joke... ;)

  10. No. When I laugh at them I think about Michael Jackson and what a D*ck he is.

  11. As long as the jokes isnt something that actually happened, then laugh if u find it funny

  12. no but thats life

  13. I cant really answer this properly but i'll tell you how i feel about it. I absolutely think that all paedophiles are the scum of the earth and the death penalty should be brought back for them. I think there victims deserve nothing but our total sympathy and compassion, but on the odd occasion that i have heard a paedophile joke, i have laughed. I am laughing at the joke, the irony in it, not the person who committed the crime nor the victim who suffered from it.

  14. I agree.

  15. It does not matter what headline or topic comes up there will always be some one to make a joke out of it....Yes i do know what you mean  but when a joke is a joke you have to decide how to take it,

  16. I would not laugh at such a "joke" and agree that I don't understand why anyone else would either.

Then there is an "involuntary" factor involved when it pertains to laughter. Sometimes, like a sneeze, a person cannot help stop themselves from laughing, regardless of how sick the joke may be.

I knew a girl who would laugh uncontrollably when ever someone fell down. I was shocked when she laughed at her 7 month pregnant friend who slipped off some steps and hit the cement ground. She also laughed hysterically after kicking a play ground ball directly into my face. In both cases the situation was not at all funny to me.

  17. It's a bit like Madeleine McCann jokes. You laugh at them (I do anyway) then you feel so guilty about it afterwards.

  18. agree with you 200%

  19. Whats up with your name?

Dame f***y Haddock? Your a paedophile!

  20. If the joke is about a real offence then its sick laughing about it but if the joke is about something that never happened then its ok but still not good

  21. No. It's just a joke... the more offensive the funnier. They are made on purpose -because- it's offensive. You laugh at it because you know your shouldn't :P

  22. I agree pedophile jokes are not funny.  And the ones who laughs at them, in my personal opinion have a very sick sense of humor.
