There is so much evidence that backs it up, i don't know how anyone can deny it as a fact. Please tell me what you think.

  1. i dont know anyone that dosnt accept it.

  2. To accept evolution requires that you reject Young Earth Creationism.  Some people are so afraid of the possibility of not getting into Heaven that they'll close their eyes to evidence.

  3. You're right, there is a lot of evidence that backs it up and no serious scientist will challenge the theory of evolution and neodarwinism, because anybody who correctly understands the science will see it's a brilliant explanation for the life we see everywhere. It's also seen on so many scales, including the development of bacteria resistant to modern medicine, like MRSA. So to say you don't believe in evolution is to say you don't believe in MRSA, any of the recent genetic science advances, and the entire fossil record and understanding of modern biology (and you have to be very arrogant to think you can disprove and disregard thousands of brilliant thinkers anyway!).

People deny it because of a number of reasons:

    1. They are confused and don't understand the theory, perhaps they are not scientists and do not have a scientific education, or maybe they are incapable of thinking logically.

    2. They feel threatened by the theory because it disproves a personal belief they want to hold on to, e.g. that God created animals by will and conscious design - many people would like to believe that and get upset now that science has proved otherwise.

    3. Some people just want a fight because they enjoy conflict, and scientists seem to be a popular target (look at animal testing, for instance!).

No credible scientist will deny evolution as fact because it's indisputable, which is exactly why the theory has grown over decades of research and is now thankfully taught as science in the national curriculum, as it should be. People can choose to reject it, but they are plainly wrong.

  4. People can blind themselves to fact and evidence when it threats to shake the core of their beliefs. Some people are not ready and never will be to let go of the comfort found in mindless acceptance.

  5. I'm a Catholic biology major, and the Pope accepts it, so I know evolution is true. All intelligent and liberal religious people do. People ignorant of science and brainwashed from childhood with primitive beliefs who are controlled by emotions and feelings, instead of logic, try to deny it. They only make fools of themselves.

  6. My thoughts exactly.  It has always looked very obvious to me. The signs and proofs are all around us.

  7. Also, a lot of teachers don't understand the full workings of evolutions. Because of that many students aren't given proper explanations or evidence as to how and why evolution works. This leads to a lot of doubt in evolution that could be easily taken care of if only teachers understood the subject.

  8. Well there are various reasons but I think one is that the idea their god may not be real afterall scares them, makes them feel insecure and that they've been lied to and fooled all their lives. It's not an easy thing to accept that. God is as real to them as anyone, it strikes fear in them to even think it may all be false.

  9. You can differentiate the concept of the "fact's of evolution", being the observed changes in organisms over time from the "theory of evolution", being the current scientific explanation of how those changes came about.

While we have observed possible evolution were yet to be able to fully explain it.

  10. I think there are several weaknesses with the theory of evolution,

There is no adequate explanation for the origin of life from dead chemicals. Even the simplest life form is tremendously complex.

The fossil record, our only documentation of whether evolution actually occurred in the past, lacks any transitional forms, and all types appear fully-formed when first present. The evidence that "pre-men" (ape-men) existed is dubious at best. So called pre-man fossils turn out to be those of apes, extinct apes, fully man, or historical frauds.

Also we dont see any modern evolution. Monkeys arent giving birth to people or anything like that,

Dont be so quick with the use of the word ' fact'

  11. People fear what they don't understand.  It's a whole lot easier for a person to understand "god loves me and made me" then it is to understand natural selection and to even comprehend that it took millions of years.

And honestly it doesn't matter. People can believe whatever they like.  People believed the earth was flat for 3000 years and that certainly didn't make it true.

As long as we keep religion out of the science classroom all is well.

  12. Basic science education is lacking and people fall prey to easy rhetoric.  A sampling of the deceptions follows.

"Just a theory" -- in science, theory is a tested hypothetical mechanism.  Gravitation is "just a theory".

Argument from Personal Ignorance -- I don't understand science, so the Bible must be true.

Watchmaker fallacy -- because there are man made created objects, complex objects must be created

Citing old science -- using the limits of out of date technology

Quote mining -- take a quote out of context.  One of the classics is Darwin saying the eye SEEMS to complex to have evolved, and omitting his extensive discussion on the evolution of the eye.

The moving goalpost -- every transitional fossil that fills in the gaps only splits the gap, leaving two gaps; there are no transitional fossils between the transitional fossils.

Ignoring genetics -- when you see people argue the all scientists have are fossils, they deny the molecular homology data that confirms the fossil evidence.

  13. Evolution is so stupid i have never seen anything craw out of the water and become anything outher than it allready was.

This just makes people more comfortable and they can go on doing whatever they want and think there wont be a price to pay.

That price is called h**l for those who have'nt accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

John 3:16  (KJV - "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life".)

Now you are aware of this so you cant say "i did'nt know" come judgement day.

    Have a nice day

  14. People can be brainwashed VERY easily!  Especially if it is started from an early age - Have pity for them!

  15. Especially religious people are quick to dismiss it, if you consider to believe in god is to believe in something without a single shred of scientific evidence to support it, it's not strange that the same people can just deny what is right in front of their eyes. However, gods existence can also not be disproven by science, so in a way, accepting evolution as being the truth, merely refutes parts of the bible and church doctrine, not necesseraly the existence of a god...

  16. The root problem is a combination of arrogance and ignorance.  All those people who think that ignorant creationists have a monopoly of religion, and have never even heard of "Evolution Sunday".

Details: Confusion: suggesting that our ignorance of how life started means that we can't understand how it developed.

Ignorance: claiming there are no "intermediate forms", especially between other apes and humans, when the problem is that there are so many that we can't tell our grandparents from our great uncles. (BTW, if you like intermediate forms, look up "Ventastega" in the pandasthumb website)

Denying that evolution is happening.  Then on the timescale that we can see it happen, pretending that it's microevolution and doesn't count.

And finally, if we are descended from monkeys (of course we didn't anyway; apes and monkeys separated 25 million years ago)  how come there are still monkeys? The only response to this is, if English is descended from German, how come there are still Germans?

Notice how these objections are trotted out time and time again in almost the same words.

  17. People are like computers, when you install an operating system on the hard drive it is a very drastic thing to change operating systems.

So in this analogy, say windows 98 is christianity, and windows vista is science. To change operating system you have to back up all your files, and get ready to make big changes to how you use your computer.

With life its exactly the same thing, religious people have mainly religious people living around them and to believe in science can lead to social separation, also they would have to change their life styles very drastically from what they used to be.  So really its a matter of wanting to fit in coupled with resistance to change.

I know a person from a very religious country, she tells me openly that I will go to h**l, it does get annoying when they don't listen to reason - and naturally religion doesn't support the idea of evolution because "God created the world as it is".

I'm a total science sucker myself :) I am considering genetics as a career.

  18. I am a scientist and of course believe in evolution. My mother is very religious and does not agree with its teachings. Things that we(the scientific community) would consider evolution, are not considered evolution to her. When talking about a kangaroo slowly evolving she said to me "It would still look like a kangaroo?, It would still be kangaroo like?". I said it probably would even though it would technically be a different species.  To her though, evolution hadn't happened. "Kangaroo like" was just the same as being a kangaroo. I think a lot of discrepancies stem from not really understanding science, the scientific method, or scientific terminology.

  19. doc_holl should know that evolutionary changes take millions of years. Durr.

  20. How could anyone believe that all the things in existence working together so well could be an accident?

Seems to me the more you learn how things work together the more you would see that it had to be created.

Please see the videos, Science Confirms the Bible is True and other things at Answers in Genesis.

Can you give a couple of examples of the evidence that has you convinced of evolution?

  21. I agree with you... but there will be loads of religious people saying we are wrong and they will go on about stories that have no fact that they believe only because their parents did

    x*x

  22. That would be because the evidence does not support it.

Perhaps you would be good enough to share some evidence that you find convinces you that evolution is true.

Perhaps when you say 'evolution' you mean natural selection and adaptation.

Evolution, as understood in its broadest sense, meaning goo-to-you, amoeba-to-ape, is not the same thing as Natural Selection.

Natural (and artificial) Selection can be observed. We have different breeds of dogs. Lions and tigers are descended from the same 'big cat' type - they can interbreed to give Tions and Ligers. http://creationontheweb.com/content/view...

A commonly quoted example is the peppered moth. However this is not even natural selection - it was simply changes in population. And the evidence you see in most textbooks was fabricated anyway - the moths do not lie on tree bark during the day - the famous picture is a result of glued on dead moths.

    http://creationontheweb.com/content/view...

Evolution is the hypothesis that animals can change into different kinds of animals by means of natural selection working on genetic mutations.

These alleged mutations need to add genetic information. However no such genetic mutation has ever been observed. Mutations are information neutral or lossy.

'But evolution is too slow to see' protest the evolutionists. Well then it's not observable and not worthy of being even called a theory. In any case, time is the enemy - mutations are resulting in the degradation of the gene pool - that is observable.

Many evolutionists (deliberately?) mislead people by calling NS evolution and then claiming E is proved.

  23. You are right!!It's very obvious....

    :))

  24. Evolution through natural selection is a theory that has some evidence to back it up, but in my opinion provides insufficiently explains the variety of life that exists/ has existed on earth. It needs further scientific thought to improve this theory. The idea that the world was created thousands of years ago rather than millions, let's be polite and say that it isn't very scientific. However this doesn't mean a "god" didn't create the universe, as I don't believe that the big bang theory sufficiently explains the beginning of it all. We just don't know, and will never know.

Re Doc-holls observation that he hasn't seen anything crawl out of water and become something. I haven't seen that myself either but puddles of water often dry up and water creatures that were able to get to nearby puddles quicker than others would be more likely to survive than slower creatures, over 100's or 1000's of generations this could lead to very speedy creatures as predators kill their slower cousins.

  25. I personally believe in both god and evolution, just because people evolved over time does not mean god does not exist. Things are not always black and white.
