How can baboons eat scorpions and not get hurt?

  1. Sometimes they do get stung by the scorpions, but if they're careful they can catch them without getting hurt.

    If they are stung, few scorpions have venom potent enough to seriously harm a baboon (or a human).  It will hurt for a while, but the animal will survive.

    Eating the scorpions, many critters remove the tail before eating.  If they don't, the venom usually has a fairly high molecular weight, and is not easily absorbed into the bloodstream without being injected - so it is simply digested along with the rest of the scorpion.


  2. The person above me is right but they also sometimes take the stinger off.
